Not a Good Look!

Let’s face it, teens follow trends! Some are even confident enough to set their own. For teens these days, the pressures of fitting in are tremendous! Having the right swag, clothes, shoes, hair, and a plethora of other things are key to being accepted. Oh, I forgot to mention that this is a technology generation! Ipods, computers, facebook, and last but definitely not least, CELL PHONES are some of the must haves!  Every teen these days has a cell phone, and more than likely they are addicted to text messaging.
Statistics are rising at an alarming rate for a trend known as ‘sexting.’ For those of you who don’t know, sexting is sending nude or semi-nude pictures or video of yourself through text messaging.  This is a very dangerous trend that can easily ruin one’s reputation, because once the text message is sent you can no longer assume that it’s private between you and the recipient! Once they have it it’s theirs to do whatever they please with it! And if it’s posted online or sent through email, it’s on the internet FOREVER!  Think of the embarrassment that could come from you applying for a job and getting denied because an employer “googles” you and see’s pictures of your naked body?? Or what if a family member happens to come across the photos?
Not only is this harmful to your reputation but it’s also harmful to your salvation!  The bible speaks of the shame of your nakedness being uncovered in Isaiah 47. Let’s not forget about Ham who saw his father’s nakedness in Genesis 9.  His son was cursed because he saw his father’s nakedness and told of it!  As you read this, some might think, “Oh, what’s the big deal!” This is more than a big deal! Unless you are married and in the company of your spouse, it is a sin to have your nakedness exposed. There is no good in it and the only reason to be viewing someone in the nude outside of marriage is to fulfill the desires of the flesh! We must remember….our mind is like a battlefield!  There is a mental war going on against worldly, carnal, fleshly desires and plenty of other things!   Let’s face facts, if you’re walking in flesh, you’re walking in sin. The Bible says that the wages of sin equal death. We must remember Phillipians 4:8: “Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report ; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Now don’t get me wrong, we are human!  We will notice an attractive person, but it is not pleasing in the eyes of God to sit up and think about what Sister Kesha might look like without her clothing! I think of how I would watch my grandmother bake.  If she used a cake mix to bake a cake, she would always use a sifter. One day I asked her what the purpose of the sifter was and I learned a valuable lesson that day!  She told me that the sifter was used to get all the bad lumps out of the mix to make the batter smooth.  That’s exactly how you should handle your bad thoughts!  Use Philipians 4:8 as your sifter and sift out the ungodly meditations of your hearts!  What’s in the heart starts in the mind. Our hearts and minds need to be committed to pleasing the Lord and following Him. So, in saying all of this, we should cover ourselves: in the Armor of God!  In our sin we are unrighteous, or “naked” before God. Remember, we are in the world and not of it. So I urge the youth of today to be trend setters and not trend followers. Take off the “filthy rags” of unrighteousness and clothe yourself in the finest of all clothing, the Armor of God!  It’s the covering of God that will give you victory over the devil!

Got Milk???

Do you remember your first birthday? Of course we can’t remember when we were first born, but think about how people celebrate and make such a big fuss over newborns. What about all the things that people buy for babies…… things that are required to really care for them. Pampers/diapers, baby wipes, pacifiers, bottles, love, and a plethora of other things! But two of the most important things that babies need are their PARENTS and MILK! It makes me think of my first birthday….my first spiritual birthday, that is! The bible states in 2 Corinthians 5 “Therefore, if anyone be in Christ, the new creation has come”.  In other words we are like newborns in Christ.  When we first accept Christ into our lives as our spiritual father, there are things that are necessary for our spiritual development.  Our FATHER, GOD, gives us the bible as a manual for our lives. The knowledge of God’s word is EXTREMELY important and is like our “spiritual milk”!  Milk is essential for children’s development…it produces good bone and dental health, helps the immune system, and in some studies it has been said to prevent certain forms of cancer! So the benefits are great, right?! God’s word is just like that and is essential for every Christian that is growing in Christ. 1 Peter 2:2 reads….  “Like new born babies crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation”.  The spiritual milk will help develop your character and help you to grow into maturity.  It gives you strength, wisdom, and prepares you to eat the meat (meat=deeper messages in the WORD) of God’s word, which prepares you for tests, trials, etc. that come in life!  There is no growth without adequate food, right? When you get into the “meat” of God’s word u gain ‘spiritual muscles” from the more profound doctrine of God’s word.  Just like our lives from babies to maturity, our spiritual walk with Christ is a process.  Make sure to LEARN it, stand on it, believe it! Drink your “MILK” daily, because milk does a body good!  Peace and Blessings!

Final Destination
In the movie, Final Destination, a group of teens try to cheat death after one of their friends has a premonition that they will all die in a plane crash. Alex, who has the premonition tries to warn everyone about what is going to happen but it results in him and his friends being kicked off the plane. Moments after the planes takes off into the air it explodes and the people who survive are amazed!  So, imagine if you were on that plane. What would be the Final Destination for your soul?  Would you go to heaven and live forever more…..or would you end up in eternal damnation?? When you stand before the Lord at the gates of Heaven, will your access granted or denied? In Matthew 26:28 it lets us know that the Blood of Jesus was shed to save us from our sin.  “this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” His life was sacrificed so that we could live forever…he was whipped, he was pierced in his side, his head was pierced with thorns, and his hands and feet were nailed to a cross.  He was the ULTIMATE sacrifice and all of this was done out of Gods love for us! So what are you willing to sacrifice? Of course we don’t have to sacrifice our physical life, but what about your flesh??  Check out what I read in Romans 8:5-7….”Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.  So, its basically telling us “GET YOUR MIND RIGHT!” When we put time and effort into concentrating on the spiritual and not the flesh, we have peace in our life, we please God, and we have a chance at access to the Kingdom! Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, Holy and acceptable to God…this is your spiritual worship! Of course there will be times we fail, but God gives us two buddies called Grace and Mercy. They give us the chance to dust ourselves off and try again! Remember that by his blood being shed we are cleansed from sin. We are made Righteous and Holy and we are united with God! Your access has been granted!!  Peace and Blessings!!!

Selfish or Selfless????

To be selfless is to show unselfish concern for the welfare of others. This is a key factor in your walk with Christ. In today’s society, there are a lot of selfish, “I gotta get mine” mentalities.  Everyone is looking out for self and “on their grind”. Understand that with selfishness comes greed and greed makes you want more and more. Before you know it you’re empty and unsatisfied! What about stopping to take the time and look out for one another? As Christians we ARE our brothers’ keeper, right?  Is God not a provider? Now I’m not telling you to just disregard your responsibilities. That’s not wise and that’s a whole other subject! But if you see a need and you can help out….WHY NOT!? It is what the Lord expects of us!  The Bible tells us in Matthew 25 how the Lord said if we do things for any one of his brothers or sisters, we do it for him! We sow from the seeds we plant…..he who sows sparingly will reap sparingly. When we stop being SELFISH and start to think about ourSELF LESS,  it glorifies God! In return he provides for us. Don’t believe me? Check out II Corinthians 9:10-12 (NIV)…… 10. Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11. You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. 12. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. See, I told you! You can’t argue with the word of GOD! Learn to be a blessing to others.  It’s not all about money either.  There are so many ways to be a blessing to one another and the feeling you get is like no other. True fulfillment comes from being a giver of yourself to others. Many never see the real value of helping one another. The Lord we serve is selfless and surely blesses us every day! Think about where we would be if he didn’t……..PEACE and BLESSINGS!

Fruit Inspection!!!!!

Have you had the recommended dosage of fruits???? There are 9 essential fruits that are extremely important for living a healthy Christian lifestyle and if u partake, people will notice! You do know that I am speaking of the FRUITS of theSpirit, right?  And why is this so important u say? We are known by the fruit we bear (Matthew 7:16) and these 9 “fruits” are merely characteristics that we should have when living a Holy lifestyle. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV).  It is also important to develop these characteristics because they are of Gods spirit and one of our main objectives is to strive to be like HIM! Just think, you can be a light to a friend who is in a dark time in their life or to someone who hasn’t even established a relationship with Christ just by bearing these attributes. When you go to the store and buy fruit to eat you don’t go for the fruit with spots or marks do you?  NOPE!  You inspect the fruit and pick the smooth, ripe, fruit without spots.  That’s exactly how our “fruit” should be.  Peace and Blessings!

DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!

Do you ever feel like you are putting your all into something and getting no results??  Or feel like your going in circles and getting nowhere fast??  Have you ever wondered why you seem to be the only person in your circle with problems. Understand that suffering, trials and disappointment are a part of life, they go hand in hand.  Just know that your hard work is not in vain!  We are obligated to stay faithfully committed to Christ just as God is committed to us. No one wants to be in a relationship where their partner is not committed to them solely; so it is with God We must remain committed. Why??  Because when we commit ourselves to totally pleasing the Lord, we reap his blessings!  Remember "Be not weary in well doing because in due season we shall reap if we faint not"(Galations 6:9)  Peace and Blessings!

I Peter 4:19............So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good. (NIV)

Who Am I???

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
   before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV)

Feeling your way through life can always be a struggle. Lunch time in school on any grade level and at any age can be an adventure. Have you ever looked at the table you sit at during lunch and noticed you're apart of the in crowd.... or perhaps you've looked around and seen the nerd table, the jock table, or the prep table. Unfortunately, we identify ourselves by the company we keep and the people we most frequently associate with. But how do you really know who you are? Does it satisfy you by being associated with the in crowd or does it gratify you. Satisfaction comes from Knowing Christ and the plan God has for your Life. Gratification simply pacifies and is temporal satisfaction.  So I ask who are you? Better yet ask yourself who's am I? Once you know then you can plug into the life giving source who has mapped out your life and has a plan to give you a future and hope.  Remember, we were created in HIS image and he knew us before he even created us.  He knew our strengths, weaknesses, and HE had a plan for us from day one!  Get on board with the Lord and trust him.  We are all ministers for HIM...yes even you! :-).  Excuses are not acceptable!!
“Alas, Sovereign LORD,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”
7 But the LORD said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the LORD.

So, in saying all of this, the Lord has placed in you everything you need to be a desciple of his. Be on a mission for Christ ......to spread his word and make it known.  Peace and blessings!!
